He was former an American commander of the Air Armament Division at Eglin Air Force Base. During his professional career earned several awars, including two Distinguished Service Medals, three Legions of Merit and the Defense Superior Service medal. Maxson passed away on January 3, 2013 due to complications from heart surgery in Jacksonville.
